Vmovee: the films of 2014 to 2019 and today's favourites, from Mad Max: Fury Road and La La Land to Joker and Dune
In April 2017 the Vmovee home page was black from edge to edge. A blue strip across the top welcomed visitors, a white Browse button opened a panel of genres, and below the header grids of posters, eight across, listed Popular movies, Recently Added Movies and Latest Movies, each poster tagged with its year and a quality chip. By 2019 the site had moved to a new address with a minimal landing page: a white VMOVEE logo floating above one large search box on a black screen. Vmovee brings both together, the calm search landing and the dense poster grids, as a guide to the films people loved between 2014 and 2019, with today's favourites alongside. Every title has a Watch now button that opens it on the official services in your country.
The Vmovee design
This Vmovee is rebuilt from two archived captures: the full catalogue page of vmovee.click from April 2017, and the landing page of vmovee.ws from January 2019. Their style sheets, which the archive had stored in compressed form, were unpacked and measured. The palette is simple and striking: pure black, white text, a steady mid-blue for the announcement strip and active states, and a dark charcoal-slate for search fields and buttons. Text is set in Arimo, a clean sans-serif, with Nunito for small capital labels.
It is a design that lets the posters shine. With a black background and very little decoration, every image stands out, and the eight-across grid shows a lot of films at once while staying tidy.
The blue strip and header
At the very top runs the blue strip from 2017, a narrow band of mid-blue with bold white text; today it reminds visitors that every title opens on the official services. Below it, the black header holds the white VMOVEE logo on the left, then the white Browse button, and on the right a charcoal search field with a white magnifying glass. The header stays at the top as you scroll, so search and Browse are always within reach. On a phone, the search field folds into a three-line menu button.
The Browse button
The white Browse button is one of Vmovee's signatures. Press it, and a dark panel drops down, headed by a blue Genres bar, with every collection listed in three columns: Popular movies, Latest movies, Movies of 2014 to 2016, Movies of 2017 to 2019, and the genres from Action and Adventure to Sci-Fi and Thriller. Each link lights up blue when you point at it. At the bottom of the panel, a row of small capitals leads to Home, Movies, TV Shows and the other main pages. The genres guide explains the panel.
The search landing
The home page opens with the 2019 landing. On the black screen, the large white VMOVEE logo sits above a headline, and beneath it a single large search box with the placeholder "Search Movies and TV Shows Title" and a charcoal search button. Type a title, a cast name or a director and results appear; press Enter for the full search page with filters. Below the box, a short introduction and four charcoal buttons lead to Popular movies, Latest movies, TV Shows and Genres, each turning blue when you point at it.
The poster grids
Below the landing come the grids that made the 2017 page. Popular movies shows sixteen of the most-watched films, two rows of eight. Recently Added Movies shows sixteen films from 2017 to 2019, newest first, and Latest Movies eight films from 2020 onward. A TV Shows grid follows with eight series. Each poster carries two small black chips in its top corners: the year on the left and a quality chip on the right, HD for films and TV for series. The title sits beneath in white, and each section has a white View all link to its full list. On a tablet the grids show four or six across, and on a phone three.
A film page
Every poster opens a film page with the poster, the title, the year, the running time, the genres and the story. A blue Watch now button and a charcoal Add to My List button follow, and the viewing panel lets you choose your country before opening JustWatch. The facts grid lists the release date, language, country and studio, and the cast follows, then related films. A series page also lists every season, and each season page lists every episode with its air date and summary.
Movies of 2014 to 2016
The first half of the Vmovee years was full of landmark films. Interstellar sent Matthew McConaughey through a wormhole, Mad Max: Fury Road turned a desert chase into a six-Oscar spectacle, and The Martian stranded Matt Damon on Mars with only his wits and a crop of potatoes. Whiplash turned a jazz class into a duel, The Imitation Game told the story of Alan Turing, The Grand Budapest Hotel offered Wes Anderson's most delightful caper, and The Revenant finally won Leonardo DiCaprio his Oscar. Arrival reinvented the alien-contact film with a linguist at its heart, and La La Land brought the musical back to life.
Action fans had John Wick, which introduced Keanu Reeves's legendary hitman, Kingsman: The Secret Service, Edge of Tomorrow, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation and Furious 7, and Star Wars: The Force Awakens returned to a galaxy far, far away. Sicario, Nightcrawler and The Big Short showed darker, sharper sides of the decade, and Hidden Figures told the true story of the women whose mathematics sent astronauts into orbit.
Movies of 2017 to 2019
The second half of the Vmovee years brought just as many favourites. Get Out became a cultural phenomenon and won Jordan Peele the Oscar for Best Original Screenplay, Blade Runner 2049 returned to the rain-soaked future of the original, and Coco took Pixar to Mexico's Day of the Dead. Black Panther became one of the biggest superhero films ever, A Quiet Place made silence terrifying, and Baby Driver set a getaway driver's chases to his playlist. Joker won Joaquin Phoenix the Oscar, Knives Out revived the whodunit, Ford v Ferrari raced to Le Mans, and Little Women brought Louisa May Alcott's sisters to a new generation.
Music found a big audience too: The Greatest Showman became a soundtrack phenomenon, A Star Is Born earned an Oscar for its song, and Bohemian Rhapsody won Rami Malek the Oscar for playing Freddie Mercury. Green Book won Best Picture, and Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood closed the decade with Quentin Tarantino's love letter to 1969 Los Angeles.
The Marvel years
The Vmovee years were the peak of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and nearly every film from them is here. Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Guardians of the Galaxy opened 2014, followed by Avengers: Age of Ultron and Ant-Man. Phase Three began with Captain America: Civil War and ran through Doctor Strange, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, Thor: Ragnarok, Black Panther, Avengers: Infinity War, Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel to Avengers: Endgame, one of the highest-grossing films ever made, and Spider-Man: Far From Home. The Marvel guide lists the order.
DC and X-Men
DC answered with Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman and Justice League, and the X-Men saga continued with X-Men: Days of Future Past, X-Men: Apocalypse, Logan, Hugh Jackman's moving farewell as Wolverine, and Dark Phoenix. The Amazing Spider-Man 2 closed Andrew Garfield's run, and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse won the Oscar for Best Animated Feature with a style that looked like a comic book come to life.
Star Wars and big franchises
Star Wars returned with its sequel trilogy, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Dinosaurs roared again in Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, the apes rose in Dawn of the Planet of the Apes and War for the Planet of the Apes, and Godzilla fought in Godzilla: King of the Monsters. The Hunger Games ended with The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 1 and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay - Part 2, and Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them opened a new chapter of the wizarding world.
Action and thrills
The Action collection is the largest on Vmovee. The John Wick films, John Wick, John Wick: Chapter 2 and John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum, redefined the modern action film with their choreography, and John Wick: Chapter 4 extends the saga. Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation and Mission: Impossible - Fallout put Tom Cruise through some of the most daring stunts ever filmed, Furious 7 and Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw kept the engines roaring, and Kingsman: The Secret Service and Kingsman: The Golden Circle gave the spy film a stylish twist. The Equalizer 2, Taken 3, Angel Has Fallen, The Accountant and xXx: Return of Xander Cage round out a busy shelf.
Science fiction
Science fiction flourished in these years. Interstellar, The Martian and Arrival took the genre in thoughtful directions, Edge of Tomorrow trapped Tom Cruise in a time loop on a battlefield, and Blade Runner 2049 expanded one of the genre's great worlds. Ready Player One raced through a virtual world packed with pop-culture references, Chappie followed a robot learning to think for itself, and Terminator Genisys and Terminator: Dark Fate continued the battle against the machines. Alien: Covenant returned to Ridley Scott's saga, and Pixels turned classic arcade games into an alien invasion.
Horror
The Horror collection keeps the scares sharp. A Quiet Place follows a family who must live in silence to survive, Get Out turns a weekend with the in-laws into a nightmare, and The Conjuring 2 and The Nun expand the Conjuring universe. Insidious: Chapter 3 and Insidious: The Last Key follow the psychic Elise Rainier into the Further, and The Meg brings a giant prehistoric shark to the surface. For older viewers, these films are best watched with the lights down.
Family and animation
The Animation collection is a treasure chest for families. Pixar's Inside Out, The Good Dinosaur, Coco, Cars 3, Incredibles 2 and Toy Story 4 are here, along with Disney's Big Hero 6, Zootopia and Frozen II. DreamWorks brings How to Train Your Dragon 2, Kung Fu Panda 3 and Penguins of Madagascar, and Illumination Despicable Me 3, The Grinch and The Secret Life of Pets 2. Hotel Transylvania 2 and Ice Age: Collision Course add more laughs, and The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King retell Disney classics in live action. The family guide suggests where to start.
Comedy and feel-good
For lighter evenings, The Intern pairs Robert De Niro with Anne Hathaway in a warm office comedy, Ocean's Eight stages a glamorous heist at the Met Gala, Now You See Me 2 brings back the magician thieves, and Jumanji: The Next Level sends friends back into the video game. Me Before You is a tender romance, The Grand Budapest Hotel a whimsical caper, and Knives Out a murder mystery full of laughs.
Latest movies
Vmovee keeps a shelf of films from 2020 onward, so today's favourites sit beside the classics of the Vmovee years. Dune and Dune: Part Two brought Frank Herbert's desert planet to life, Oppenheimer won seven Oscars, Top Gun: Maverick returned to the skies, and Avatar: The Way of Water went back to Pandora. The Batman, Superman and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 carried the superhero story forward, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, The Wild Robot, Inside Out 2 and Puss in Boots: The Last Wish lit up animation, and Sinners and Project Hail Mary are two of the most talked-about films of the last two years. The movies guide has more.
TV shows
The TV Shows shelf holds thirty-one series that people followed in the Vmovee years, each with every season and episode. Better Call Saul, Stranger Things, Peaky Blinders, Fargo and This Is Us lead the dramas, and Yellowstone, Vikings and The Chosen bring epic storytelling. The procedurals, The Rookie, 9-1-1, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D., Chicago Med, S.W.A.T., SEAL Team, The Blacklist, Elementary and Scorpion, offer a case every week, and The Good Doctor and Lucifer add memorable leads.
Superhero series were everywhere in these years: Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, DC's Legends of Tomorrow, Gotham and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.. Science fiction fans have The Expanse, Star Trek: Discovery and The 100, and Brooklyn Nine-Nine and Young Sheldon bring the laughs. The TV shows guide sorts them further.
How Watch now works
Watch now connects Vmovee to the services that hold each title. Open a film or series page, choose your country in the viewing panel, from the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada and Australia to India, the Philippines, Singapore, Nigeria, Germany, France, the Netherlands and Brazil, and press the blue Watch now button. Vmovee opens the title on JustWatch, an independent guide that lists every official service offering it in that country, by subscription, rental, purchase or free with adverts. Choose one, and the film opens in that service's app or website. Vmovee remembers your country for next time, and the how to watch guide walks through each step.
Where the films stream
Films from these years move between services often, so the country selector matters. Disney+ holds most of the Marvel, Star Wars and Pixar films in many countries, Netflix, Prime Video and Max carry many of the others, and Peacock, Paramount+ and Hulu add more in the United States. Rental stores such as Apple TV, Google TV and Prime Video rent and sell almost every film, often in 4K. Free services with adverts, such as Tubi and Pluto TV, carry a rotating selection. The services page gives an overview.
Phones, TVs and consoles
Vmovee works in every browser, and adding it to your phone's home screen makes it open like an app. Films play in the official apps of each service, installed from Google Play, the App Store or your TV's store. Fire TV, Google TV, Apple TV, Roku, PlayStation, Xbox and nearly every smart TV run those apps, and Chromecast or AirPlay send the picture from your phone to the TV. The apps and devices page covers each option.
HD and 4K
The HD chip on each poster is a nod to the quality chips of the 2017 page, and today almost every film streams in high definition. Many from these years have been remastered in 4K with HDR, including Mad Max: Fury Road, Blade Runner 2049, Interstellar and the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Plan on about 5 Mbps for smooth HD and 15 to 25 Mbps for 4K, and on mobile data choose a lighter quality in the app settings or download a film over Wi-Fi first. The audio, subtitles and quality guide has the details.
My List
My List is the Vmovee watchlist. Press Add to My List on any film or series page, and the title is saved in this browser, visible to you alone. On a season page, mark the episode you reached, and My List keeps your place in every series you follow. Export writes your list to a small file, and Import restores it on another device. The My List page explains each button.
Finding a film
There are several ways to find a film. The big search box on the home page and the dark search field in the header match titles, cast and directors as you type. The white Browse button opens every genre and list. The grids on the home page lead to Popular movies, Recently Added Movies, Latest Movies and TV Shows, and the A-Z index lists every title by its first letter. The finding a film guide brings these routes together.
Top rated
The Top rated collection gathers the titles scored 8 or more out of 10 by at least two thousand viewers. It includes Interstellar, Whiplash, Coco, Joker, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, Green Book and Hacksaw Ridge among the films, and Better Call Saul, Stranger Things and Peaky Blinders among the series. Open Top rated for the full list.
Choosing a film
The black grids make browsing easy, and a few questions make choosing easier. What mood are you in? The Browse panel sorts the catalogue by genre, from Comedy to Thriller. Which era? Movies of 2014 to 2016 and Movies of 2017 to 2019 split the catalogue neatly, and Latest movies holds the newer films. How did audiences react? The score on each film page, with the number of ratings behind it, shows how widely a film was enjoyed.
Ideas for a movie night
For a space night, pair Interstellar with The Martian. For a musical evening, La La Land followed by The Greatest Showman. For a Marvel marathon, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame back to back. For the family, Coco or Zootopia. For a thriller night, Get Out and then A Quiet Place, and for something to discuss afterwards, Arrival or Joker.
Recognising Vmovee
Vmovee is easy to recognise: a black page with a blue strip at the top, the white VMOVEE logo, a white Browse button, a dark search field, a centred search landing and grids of posters eight across with black year and HD chips. Bookmark the home page and add it to your phone's home screen. The official site page describes these details, and the site status page helps when a page is slow to load.
Safe streaming
A few habits keep streaming safe. Install apps only from Google Play, the App Store or your TV's own store, keep your devices updated, and give each service its own strong password with two-step sign-in switched on. Before you pay or sign in, check that the address bar shows the service's real name. Vmovee sends you to JustWatch, and JustWatch sends you to the official services, so each step stays on trusted ground. The streaming safely page has a short checklist.
Free, legal options
Many films from these years stream free and legally. Tubi, Pluto TV and the Roku Channel carry a rotating selection with adverts, and some public libraries offer free film streaming to their members. On each title page, the Watch now panel lists free options beside the paid ones for your country. The free movies page lists the main services.
Privacy
Vmovee keeps your data in your own browser. My List, your episode marks and your chosen country stay on your device, ready to clear at any time or move with Export and Import. Posters, stories, cast and episode details come from TMDB, and the viewing options come from JustWatch.
How the catalogue is chosen
The catalogue follows the spirit of the 2017 grids. The films are the most-watched English-language releases from 2014 to 2019, the Vmovee years, with a shelf of favourites from 2020 onward; the TV shows are the series with the largest audiences from 2012 to 2019. All were chosen from TMDB and checked by hand. The 2017 page also listed some sex comedies and erotic films; Vmovee focuses on films and scripted series for a general audience and leaves those, and reality and talk shows, to other places.
A short history of Vmovee
Vmovee became a familiar name among movie fans around 2016, at vmovee.click and then vmovee.me and vmovee.ws. The archived April 2017 page shows the classic catalogue: the black background, the blue strip, the white Browse button and the eight-across grids of Popular movies, Recently Added Movies and Latest Movies. By January 2019 the front page had become a minimal black landing with a large search box, with a button leading to the old design. Vmovee today combines the two and sends every title to the official services, in HD, with subtitles, on every screen.
A first visit
On a first visit, type a favourite film into the big search box, or scroll down to the Popular movies grid. Open a poster that catches your eye, choose your country and press Watch now to see where it streams. Then open the white Browse button to explore a genre, add a few films to My List, and pin Vmovee to your home screen.
Oscar winners of the Vmovee years
The Vmovee years were a golden age for award-winning crowd-pleasers. Mad Max: Fury Road won six Oscars, more than any other film of its year, and La La Land won six too, including Best Director for Damien Chazelle and Best Actress for Emma Stone. The Revenant won Best Actor for Leonardo DiCaprio and Best Director for Alejandro González Iñárritu, The Grand Budapest Hotel won four, and Whiplash won three, including Best Supporting Actor for J. K. Simmons. Green Book won Best Picture, Bohemian Rhapsody won four, Joker won Best Actor, and The Big Short won Best Adapted Screenplay. Among the animated winners are Big Hero 6, Inside Out, Zootopia, Coco and Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse.
Directors of the decade
Several filmmakers defined these years. Christopher Nolan made Interstellar, Denis Villeneuve made Sicario, Arrival and Blade Runner 2049, and later the two Dune films. Damien Chazelle made Whiplash and La La Land, Jordan Peele made Get Out, and Rian Johnson made Star Wars: The Last Jedi and Knives Out. Taika Waititi brought comedy to Marvel with Thor: Ragnarok, James Gunn gave it heart with Guardians of the Galaxy and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, and Ryan Coogler made Black Panther. Quentin Tarantino made The Hateful Eight and Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, and Wes Anderson made The Grand Budapest Hotel.
Stars of the decade
Search a name and the grid filters to that star. Keanu Reeves leads the John Wick films, Tom Cruise leads Edge of Tomorrow, Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation and Mission: Impossible - Fallout, and Dwayne Johnson leads San Andreas, Jumanji: The Next Level, Fast & Furious Presents: Hobbs & Shaw and Furious 7. Chris Pratt leads Jurassic World, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom and the Guardians films, Hugh Jackman leads Logan and The Greatest Showman, and Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling share La La Land. Leonardo DiCaprio leads The Revenant and Once Upon a Time... in Hollywood, and Denzel Washington leads The Equalizer 2.
True stories
Several films on Vmovee tell real stories. The Imitation Game follows Alan Turing's race to break the Enigma code, Hidden Figures celebrates three Black women mathematicians at NASA, and Hacksaw Ridge follows the conscientious objector Desmond Doss on Okinawa. The Big Short explains the 2008 financial crisis with wit, Ford v Ferrari follows the engineers and drivers who took on Ferrari at Le Mans in 1966, and Bohemian Rhapsody traces the story of Queen up to Live Aid. Green Book follows a pianist and his driver on a concert tour of the American South, and The Revenant is drawn from the ordeal of the frontiersman Hugh Glass.
Monsters and disasters
For big-screen spectacle, Jurassic World and Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom reopened the dinosaur park, Godzilla: King of the Monsters pits the King of the Monsters against his greatest rivals, and The Meg brings a prehistoric shark to the surface. San Andreas follows a rescue pilot through a massive earthquake in California, Transformers: Age of Extinction returns to the war of the robots, and The Mummy awakens an ancient princess in modern London.
Classics made new
Disney spent these years reimagining its animated classics. The Jungle Book brought Mowgli's jungle to life with astonishing visual effects, Beauty and the Beast turned the tale as old as time into a lavish musical with Emma Watson, and The Lion King retold the story of Simba in photorealistic animation. They make an easy family evening, especially alongside the originals.
Westerns and period films
Some films of the Vmovee years look back to earlier times. The Hateful Eight traps eight strangers in a snowbound stagecoach lodge in Quentin Tarantino's Western, The Revenant follows a frontiersman across the frozen American wilderness, and Little Women retells the story of the March sisters with warmth and wit. The Greatest Showman turns the life of P. T. Barnum into a musical, and Hidden Figures and Ford v Ferrari recreate the 1960s in loving detail.
A week with Vmovee
Here is one way to spend a week with Vmovee. On Monday, watch Arrival. On Tuesday, try Knives Out. On Wednesday, go back to 2015 with Mad Max: Fury Road. On Thursday, turn the lights down for A Quiet Place. On Friday, invite friends for Avengers: Endgame. On Saturday, enjoy La La Land, and on Sunday, relax with the family and Coco. Add each film to My List and tick them off as the week goes on.
Reading the scores
Every film page shows a TMDB score out of ten and the number of ratings behind it. Films from the Vmovee years have had time to gather tens of thousands of ratings, so their scores are steady and reliable: a high score with many ratings, like Interstellar or Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, signals a film that pleases almost everyone. Newer films start with fewer ratings, and their scores settle over the first weeks. Use the score as a friendly signpost and trust your own taste.
Worth watching again
Some films reward a second viewing. Arrival reveals its structure only at the end, Get Out is full of clues hidden in plain sight, and Knives Out plays fair with every detail. Interstellar and Blade Runner 2049 hide new details in every frame, and Avengers: Endgame rewards viewers who know the earlier films. Keep a few of these in My List for evenings when you want something familiar.
Sharing a film
Every Vmovee page has a clean, stable address, so sharing a film is as simple as copying the link and sending it on. The link opens the same page, with its poster, story and Watch now button, and your friend can choose their own country to see where it streams for them.
The John Wick saga
Few action series have been as influential as John Wick. John Wick introduced Keanu Reeves as a retired hitman pulled back into the underworld in 2014, with fight scenes filmed in long, clear takes that set a new standard. John Wick: Chapter 2 expanded the world of the Continental hotel and its rules, John Wick: Chapter 3 - Parabellum followed him across the globe as an outcast, and John Wick: Chapter 4 brought the saga to a grand finale in Paris. Watched in order over a weekend, they make one of the great action marathons.
Mission: Impossible
The Mission: Impossible films of these years pushed practical stunts to new heights. Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation opens with Tom Cruise hanging from the side of a plane as it takes off, and introduced Rebecca Ferguson's Ilsa Faust. Mission: Impossible - Fallout followed with a helicopter chase through the mountains and a daring skydive, and many critics consider it one of the finest action films ever made. Both are ideal for a big screen and a good sound system.
Guardians and cosmic Marvel
Marvel's cosmic films brought colour and comedy to the saga. Guardians of the Galaxy turned a band of misfits and a talking raccoon into beloved heroes in 2014, with a mixtape soundtrack that topped the charts. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 deepened the story of Peter Quill's family, Thor: Ragnarok reinvented Thor as a comic hero on a garbage planet, and Captain Marvel took the story back to the 1990s. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 closed the trilogy in 2023 with an emotional farewell.
Pixar in the Vmovee years
Pixar made some of its most loved films in these years. Inside Out visited the emotions inside a young girl's mind, Coco celebrated family and memory on the Day of the Dead, and Incredibles 2 brought the superhero family back fourteen years after the first film. Toy Story 4 sent Woody on a road trip with a homemade toy named Forky, Cars 3 gave Lightning McQueen a final race, and The Good Dinosaur imagined a world where the dinosaurs survived. Inside Out 2 continued Riley's story in 2024.
For teenagers
Teenagers will find plenty on Vmovee. The Maze Runner traps a group of teenagers in a giant labyrinth, the Hunger Games finale follows Katniss Everdeen into the rebellion, and Spider-Man: Homecoming and Spider-Man: Far From Home follow a high-school hero. Stranger Things became a phenomenon among young viewers, and Jumanji: The Next Level and Ready Player One are fun adventures for a group of friends. Check the certificate on each streaming service before pressing play.
Watching together
Many films from these years are made for shared evenings. Families can agree on a Pixar film or a Disney remake in a minute, friends can plan a Marvel or John Wick marathon, and couples can settle in for La La Land or Me Before You. Most streaming apps offer separate profiles, and My List can be exported from one device and imported on another, so everyone knows what is next.
Cinema at home
A few touches make an evening at home feel like a trip to the cinema. Dim the lights, switch the television to its film picture mode, and turn off motion smoothing so films keep their natural look. Use a soundbar or good headphones for films with big soundtracks, such as Interstellar, Mad Max: Fury Road or Dune: Part Two, and choose the 4K version where your plan and connection allow.
Then and now
In 2017, finding a film meant scrolling long grids and hoping for a good copy. Today the official services carry almost every film from these years in HD or 4K, with subtitles in many languages, and a single search on JustWatch shows where each one streams in your country. Vmovee keeps the look of those grids, black, blue and full of posters, but every poster now leads to a clear page and a Watch now button that sends you to the right service.
Sequels worth the wait
Some sequels from these years matched or surpassed their originals. Blade Runner 2049 arrived thirty-five years after the first film and was praised for its images, Incredibles 2 was worth the fourteen-year wait, and Top Gun: Maverick returned to the skies decades later to huge acclaim. War for the Planet of the Apes closed its trilogy powerfully, and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and John Wick: Chapter 2 expanded their worlds with style. Watching an original and its sequel back to back is one of the simplest pleasures of a movie night.
Slower connections
Vmovee is designed to be light: posters are compressed, pages load quickly, and the home page shows the search box and the most popular films first. On the streaming services, a lower quality setting keeps playback smooth on mobile data, and downloading a film over Wi-Fi is a good idea before a journey. The quality guide explains the settings.
Latest arrivals
The grids on the home page refresh as popularity shifts, and the Latest movies page lists every film from 2020 onward, with filters for genre and year. It is the quickest way to see what has arrived since your last visit.
Stranger Things and the Vmovee-era series
Stranger Things arrived in 2016 and quickly became one of the defining series of the decade, a story of friendship, government secrets and monsters from another dimension in a small Indiana town, full of affection for 1980s films. Better Call Saul began in 2015 and grew into a masterpiece of its own, This Is Us made millions of viewers cry every week from 2016, and Peaky Blinders turned the Shelby family into style icons. Each series on Vmovee lists every season and episode, so starting one of these long stories is easy.
Superheroes on television
The Vmovee years were also the boom years of superhero television. Arrow began in 2012 and grew into the Arrowverse, with The Flash, Supergirl and DC's Legends of Tomorrow joining for yearly crossovers. Gotham told the story of the city before Batman, and Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. followed the agents of the Marvel films through seven seasons of adventure. Lucifer added a devilish twist to the police procedural.
Science fiction on television
Science fiction fans have three strong series. The Expanse builds a realistic future in which Earth, Mars and the asteroid Belt edge towards war, and it is often called one of the best science-fiction series ever made. Star Trek: Discovery returned Star Trek to television in 2017, and The 100 follows a group of young people sent back to a changed Earth a century after a nuclear catastrophe.
Star Wars in the Vmovee years
The Star Wars sequel trilogy began and ended in the Vmovee years. Star Wars: The Force Awakens introduced Rey, Finn and Poe in 2015 and brought back Han Solo, Leia and Luke. Star Wars: The Last Jedi took the story in bold new directions in 2017, and Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker closed the Skywalker saga in 2019. Together they make a satisfying weekend marathon, best watched in order.
The X-Men films
The X-Men saga reached its peak and its close in these years. X-Men: Days of Future Past brought the original cast and their younger selves together through time travel, X-Men: Apocalypse faced the first mutant, and Dark Phoenix followed Jean Grey's transformation. Logan gave Hugh Jackman's Wolverine a moving, grown-up farewell that many consider the finest film of the series.
The procedurals
The TV shelf includes the procedurals that kept viewers company week after week. The Rookie follows a man who joins the Los Angeles police in his forties, 9-1-1 follows first responders through spectacular emergencies, and the three Chicago shows, Chicago Fire, Chicago P.D. and Chicago Med, share a city and many crossovers. S.W.A.T. and SEAL Team bring tactical action, The Blacklist pairs the FBI with a master criminal, Elementary moves Sherlock Holmes to New York, and Scorpion recruits a team of geniuses. The Good Doctor follows a gifted surgeon with autism, a series that found a huge audience.
DC in the Vmovee years
DC's films of these years each had a distinct flavour. Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice set the two heroes against each other, Suicide Squad assembled a team of villains, Wonder Woman became a worldwide hit with Gal Gadot in the title role, and Justice League brought the heroes together. Newer DC films, The Batman and Superman, sit on the Latest movies shelf.
Films for younger viewers
For younger viewers, the animated films are a natural start: Zootopia, Big Hero 6, Penguins of Madagascar, Despicable Me 3, The Grinch, Hotel Transylvania 2 and The Secret Life of Pets 2 are all bright and funny. The live-action Disney remakes, The Jungle Book, Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King, are lovely family choices, and Frozen II and Toy Story 4 continue beloved stories.
The Planet of the Apes trilogy
One of the most admired trilogies of the decade is the modern Planet of the Apes story. Dawn of the Planet of the Apes follows Caesar's community of intelligent apes and a group of human survivors trying to share a world, and War for the Planet of the Apes brings Caesar's story to a moving close. Andy Serkis's performance as Caesar, captured with motion technology, is widely considered one of the great achievements of modern visual effects, and the saga continues in newer films set generations later.
Heists and capers
Heist films bring a lighter kind of thrill. Ocean's Eight assembles a crew of women to steal a diamond necklace at the Met Gala, Now You See Me 2 brings back the illusionist thieves known as the Four Horsemen, and Baby Driver follows a young getaway driver who times every chase to his music. Knives Out turns the country-house mystery into a playful puzzle, and The Accountant follows a brilliant numbers man with a secret life.
Music on screen
Music runs through some of the best-loved films on Vmovee. La La Land follows a jazz pianist and an aspiring actress through a year of songs and dreams in Los Angeles, Whiplash turns jazz drumming into a gripping contest of wills, and The Greatest Showman became one of the best-selling soundtracks of its decade. A Star Is Born gave the world the Oscar-winning song Shallow, Bohemian Rhapsody recreated Queen's legendary Live Aid set, and Coco filled the Land of the Dead with music. Baby Driver cuts every chase to the beat of its hero's playlist.
